Ruben Valle

(he/his)
PhD Candidate
MD, MSc in Epidemiology

Working as a hospital psychiatrist in Peru, Ruben became aware that the mental healthcare system struggled to provide timely access to mental health services and effective clinical interventions to young people with first-episode psychosis, which adversely impacted their recovery. His keen interest in improving outcomes in this population led him to study a PhD in Mental Health at McGill University, focused on early intervention in psychosis service implementation. He aspires to design feasible service models of early intervention in psychosis services to be implemented in low-resource settings. He hopes to be a mental health scientific community member whose scientific work may contribute to improving young people’s mental health in Peru and, in general, in Latin America. He also enjoys drawing, painting, and running.
