Aarati Taksal, Salomé Xavier, Tovah Cowan, Beatrice Todesco and Srividya Iyer attended the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis-  2024 June 5th-8th  in sunny Helsinki. Salomé’s talk, entitled “Exploring life narratives and socio-environmental contexts of individuals with psychosis with different ethnic backgrounds” prompted fantastic discussion. Aarati presented two posters (“Indian and Canadian stakeholders’ perception of government’s role in supporting people with mental health problems.” and “Life experiences of youth experiencing early psychosis in Chennai, India and Montreal, Canada.”)  and Tovah presented one (“Recovery over Time among Individuals Receiving Treatment for First-Episode Psychosis in Chennai, India and Montreal, Canada”) based on data from India and Canada. Beatrice presented “Integrating Peer Support within Quebec's Early Intervention Services for psychosis: Proposal for a qualitative evaluation.” The team found the conference invigorating and exciting and loved getting to visit the happiest country in the world.

McGill University and the Douglas Research Centre are on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka, one of the founding nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within Tiohtià:ke/Montréal and across the country.
