We had the pleasure to welcome and host Dr. Swapna Verma, who visited us in Montreal in May 2024 and delivered a very interesting talk on the early psychosis intervention programme (EPIP) in Singapore. Dr. Swapna Verma started her academic career with EPIP in 2001 when EPIP was first established and thus has been closely involved in the development and establishment of its clinical, research and training initiatives. The EPIP has a multidisciplinary team offering case-management and phase specific care for youth with first episode psychosis (FEP). It also engages in community outreach through media and building bridges with community partners to spread awareness about early psychosis and mental health. EPIP has won prestigious awards including the WHO award for research in health promotion in 2004 as well as the inaugural National Medical Excellence Team award in 2008.
