Bianca Fontaine

(she/her)
MSc Student
MD

Bianca Fontaine earned her medical degree from McGill University, where she developed a deep interest in mental health. After graduating, she chose to immerse herself in her community rather than immediately pursuing further clinical training. In her role as a youth worker in a socially vulnerable neighborhood, Bianca broadened her understanding of mental health and recovery, sparking a passion for social and transcultural psychiatry.

Currently completing a master’s in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Iyer, Bianca’s research focuses on the lived experiences of community workers. She aims to amplify their insights within academic research and highlight the vital role they play in addressing youth mental health. Her work seeks to bridge the gap between communities and the formal healthcare system.

Outside of work, Bianca enjoys participating in neighborhood activities. Like a true extrovert, she can often be found chitchatting with the regulars at her local coffee shop.
